Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen: Can Your High-Net-Worth Career Turn Your Marriage into a High Net Worth Divorce?

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady have officially filed for divorce. They wisely settled the marriage outside of the public eye. Amongst the reasons cited were his demanding career in football that kept him on the road for six months out of the year. According to reports, Gisele felt he repeatedly put his career over their family. Their divorce doesn’t come out of thin air – sources have suggested that Bundchen has threatened to leave Brady many times in the past. Another reason cited is her concerns that he could develop CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy) from repeated concussions while playing football.

“This is a very violent sport and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen has said “Ultimately, I have my concerns. I definitely have had those conversations with him over and over again.”

Bundchen has also returned to her modeling career as well as a new career as an environmentalist.

“I feel very fulfilled in a way, as a mother and as a wife,” Bündchen told Elle magazine, “And now it’s going to be my turn.”

There are certain careers that are known for having a high divorce rate and professional sports is no exception. Professional athletes are required to be away from their partner frequently with work trips or conferences. Careers such as this are also often linked to infidelity. The stress and loneliness of being on the road can bring the opportunity for extramarital affairs. Other careers that have a high likelihood of divorce include pilots, veterinarians, doctors and surgeons.

People with high income careers are far more likely to get divorced. There are many factors that impact this higher divorce rate, including hours spent away from the family, the stress that often comes with a high earning career and the financial freedom to move on from the relationship if problems arise.
